Q: How much does Mental Health for Heroes cost?

Mental Health for Heroes is free of charge to the participant for a maximum of 6 session. We do try to link people to resources that accept major insurances or offer sliding scale options for individuals who are coming through the Mental Health for Heroes program.

Q: I am a frontline worker facing emotional challenges but am not at a crisis point. Am I qualified for services through Mental Health for Heroes?

Yes. Any frontline worker is eligible for services through Mental Health for Heroes.

Q: I work in janitorial at the hospital and worry about exposing my family. Do I have to be a doctor or nurse to use services through Mental Health for Heroes?

No. You can be a staff member in a hospital and still access services through Mental Health for Heroes.

Q: I am an established physician that needs to talk but does not want a documented need for mental health on my record. Will calling Mental Health for Heroes negatively affect me professionally?

No. Your conversation with your counselor is designed to be completely confidential and compliant with all state and local laws regarding privacy and reporting requirements. Nothing you share with your counselor will be made available to your employer or hospital, and you do not need to let anyone know you are seeking help unless it is your choice to do so.

Q: If I make an initial call and really like my counselor, can I keep talking to him/her through Mental Health for Heroes?

If you have a positive experience after your initial call and talking with your counselor continues to be a good fit, we will assess your needs for continued care free of charge under the program, and even work with insurance if necessary.

Q: I’m a first responder, but do not want my department to know I am seeking services. Will they know if I call Mental Health for Heroes?

No. Your conversation with a counselor is designed to be completely confidential and compliant with all state and local laws regarding privacy and reporting requirements. Nothing you share with your counselor will be made available to your employer or hospital, and you do not need to let anyone know you are seeking help unless it is your choice to do so.

Q: I’m a teacher at my wit’s end and need help. I think I need long-term care, does Mental Health for Heroes offer this?

Mental Health for Heroes works to provide referral sources that work with insurance, offer sliding scale fees, and provide supplemental financial help. We do our best to make sure that clinical needs are met and remove barriers to individuals seeking professional help.
